We are wife and husband Rosemary Cousin and Richard Nankin and we run Grand Ridge Organics. We are Certified Organic producers with the National Association of Sustainable Agriculture.
Our farm is located on 10.5 acres of land adjoining the Upper Tarwin River in the Strzelecki Ranges. Under an agricultural license we manage 9.5 acres along the upper Tarwin River, so the area we care for totals about 20 acres. In 1995 our river frontage Ag. license area was the first place in Australia under LandCare to be cleared of willow trees and revegetated with native trees and shrubs, so as to provide a much needed wildlife corridor and habitat for native flora and fauna, Our place was the start of a “Hills To The Sea” revegetation project on the Tarwin river.
At Grand Ridge Organics we grow certified Organic fruit and nut trees, fresh Organic produce including vegetables, garlic, chillies and tomatoes and Organic flowers. We hand make a range of delicious jams, marmalades, pickles and preserves using our own produce. Our pure bred Australorp and Light Sussex chickens lay truly free range eggs.
Our aim is to give back to the earth more than we take, leaving more for future generations. We know healthy ecosystems have abundant life; happy animals produce good food and all life forms deserve a good quality of life, without disease, pain or discomfort and with dignity in death.
